I first bought my rx300 nine years ago. It now has 190,000 miles on it. I'm planning to use until 300,000 miles. It has some annoying problems like whining noise from the engine, remote door lock on passenger side no longer works (the dealer told me it would costs $700 to fix!). So far it never broke down on road despite the noisy engine (and I've been using Mobil1 oil from day one!).

The failed door lock is a common problem and there is a very cheap solution to it if you are mechanically inclined at all. If not, I'm not sure what to tell you, because for that $1. tinkertoy motor that is in the lock, they're gonna sock it to you. The lock is sealed, not serviceable so Lexus only solution is a new lock at $700. That's criminal! The solution that many RX owners have done costs about $5.-$10. but requires some mechanical ability. What does the dealer say the whining noise is?
