Secret weapon r intake gain hp ?
How much HP you could gain if you upgrade to SW R Intake? I knew few members of our forum had it. Please give us your current ideas. Archangels, how you make the heat shield for SW R intake? Do you still have this intake?
Is there any better intake we could look for it! Thanks guys.

Well I know with the drop in K&N filter I had in for a while worked great at higher rpm`s.But did notice a slight off the line performance loss. You might gain a min.of 5hp,and a max.of 10hp.Of course I stopped using my K&N due to the constant maf contamination.(got sick of having to clean it all the time) It would be interesting to see if their really was any difference in hp/torque on a dyno though.

I have the intake, it's loud. That's about it. You end up losing some low end and it feels as if it pulls harder on the top end but it may be a placebo affect from the sound, because it's loud. Really loud. The intake is extremely short, it may have something to do with that also as it just places the open air cleaner behind the battery.
The rule is if you want low end torque, an intake system should be longer and smaller in diameter. High end HP and shorter and thick. They say it has to do with the way the air travels and sound waves bouncing around inside the intake, it travels faster through a thinner tube, and there's more air inside a thicker tube, but doesn't travel as fast.

It's not gonna sound like a V8 with open exhaust or something if that's what you're worried about. When you're driving around normally it doesn't sound different from stock, but when you open up the throttle it's much deeper, it's a pleasant sound if anything, just loud(er) than stock. You can really hear the engine wailing away at WOT.

I don't run an air filter. It was a long time ago in a galaxy far far away when that happened and I figure I'd clean it out once ever year. Really not much accumulation. The accumulation seemed to happened when I still had a K&N panel filter.

Lex,you still dont run an air filter??

No. I sort of remember the last time that I ran one full time being somewhere around 2004 or so. I no longer have the bullhorn intake, but just my Weapon-R pipe, my custom made y-pipe after that and some plastic PVC that extends from the y-pipe to a point just underneath the fusebox. I found the bullhorn intake at sea level to be too much of a problem, sucked up a lot of air. Thus, it's just tubing with no air filter.
