Default Two questions here

First: Adding octane booster to fuel, is this okay for the RX.

Second: Any thoughts on using Lucas products, want to put some in tranny and was wondering if anyone has used this before...

Thanks everyone for helping...

I suppose it would depend on how much you want to boost the octane. Why not just use higher octane gasoline? My RX has used only 87 octane since new, but I'm not looking for "performance".

I use 87 as well, I dont need performance, just good mileage.
I was wondering if using lower octane affects the componets any more than better octane

I never added an octane booster, just other additives such as Redline and Marvel Mystery Oil.

I never used Lucas products, but my dad who was a mechanic swore by MMO and Lucas. Personally, I think you're fine with a high quality ATF such as Amsoil or Royal Purple.

If you think you need an octane booster, just use a higher octane gas. Yes, higher octane gas does improve gas mileage a little. t's probably break-even cost-wise (improved mileage vs cost of premium gas) but your performance will improve a little also.

1. Yes, but you won't notice much
2. If your tranny is fine, best thing you can do for it is adding Amsoil ATF. Yes, I have used the Lucas tranny additive. I didn't get to test it long enough, because I had an accident that affected my transmission (broke the tranny pump) the very next day, that was the infamous something went bump thread of a few years ago.

Supposedly the a/f sensors will fail quicker on regular. IAC valve will need more periodic service. And of course last but not least, less performance.(I know I`ll get bashed for this, but hey it is what it is.)
