New tires
I just retire my Michelin Cross Terrain tires. They are 235/70/16 with tread wear 480, made in USA. I roughly have 100k miles (90% freeway) on them. I am very satisfied with the tires. Never have any problem with them. I think I don't need to said much because I got 100K miles out of them. I now have Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza, made in Mexico. The reason to switch is the price and I am little tight in budget. The Bridgestone costs $120 and the Michelin costs $157 in tirerack. According to the forum, Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza should be as good as Michelin Cross Terrain.

I made the switch.. not even close. The only thing going for the Duelers are they are more quiet. On dry, wet, snow, etc. no comparison of the X-terrains to the Duelers. On the reviews, I'd be interested to see who came from the X-terrain and are comparing relative to that, and who just like the Dueler's because they just don't know any better.

3RD Transmission
When I hear of owners getting the bum transmission on the RX, it really frightens me that my RX could be fine today and then go straight to junk tomorrow.
Honestly, I'm not sure if I would replace my '99 with 120K tomorrow if the tranny were to blow. I love it and all because it's been very reliable, but to have a tranny go is real scary. Not like you can sell it when it can't drive... unless you donate the vehicle.

Yes, he's on his 3rd tranny.
Two things that I have done to prolong my tranny life (other than tranny modifications I did back in Mexico) are to leave the transmission dipstick open at the top to let out heat and also I use Amsoil ATF.
On the question of tires, my CrossTerrains are practically new since April of last year and hardly saw any time on Mexican roads, about 1/2 a day or so, and the other two I bought in Florida, so we'll have to see how long my 235s last here, because I swore I got maybe 30K out of them down there.

I vote for the Michelins. We replaced Duelers on my wife's GX470 with Cross-Terrains and have been very happy with the switch, although the HT's were ok. Hers were HT's not HL's. Maybe the HL's are even better....

WAIT A SECOND... does your signature say you are on THIRD transmission. Is this because you have three cars, or all 3 on the RX300? Man, you sure you didn't get a Chrysler minivan in disguise?
