Considering a 2001 Rx...how much is too much?
I'm looking at buying a 2001 Lexus Rx with 82K miles on it. This is my first Lexus, is there anything I should be aware of? Also what is a fair price for these? Thank you!

under $10,000 for that. even in perfect condition
I paid 9K for my 2000 2 months ago in Dang near perfect condition
look for it shifting funny, hesitating to reverse
headlight covers cloudy?
a/c and heat BOTH work well on BOTH sides?
how clean or worn or cracked the leather is
look for any steering issues or squeaks
ask if the tranny has been replaced
make sure it idles quietly and the belts all sound fine
see the service records, check the fluids. that whole bit.
Good luck and have fun!
fairly common problem on these is the auto transmission will go out and die costing $3-4000 anywhere from 50,000 miles to 160,000 miles, most occurring around 95 ish or so, but most all users have this happen

not true. just because you see alot on a message board does not mean all transmissions crap out. do you know how many vehicles were produced? are they problematic, sure. its a sore spot like many car manufactures have with certain systems but not all have problems just more than they ever imagined.

I just put money down on a 2001 RX with 90,800 miles on it. I was able to get it for $9350... what do you guys think? I am supposed to pick it up on Wednesday. I figured in the cost of timing belt to my negotiation... Overall it is in great condition with a few light scratches I plan on buffing out.
