Cracked the passenger side rotor trying to take it off so I'm looking at new rotors. The autozone rotors are only about $30 bucks each but I'm a little weary about the quality. I've found that for most things you get what you pay for. Got inexpensive rotors for my cr-v from Napa and they started warping after just a few thousand miles......

I have a lot of miles on mine with no issues at all. Cheap rotors are always a crap-shoot, but honestly they look like pretty good quality parts. They have a 2 year warranty, so if they warp you can just take them back and get another set. I can tell you that I have used autozone rotors on all my daily drivers for at least 5 years or so and have never had any problems at all.

Tirerack has Centric rotors for $54 a piece and Brembo for $66.. They have rears for $43. Those are very good prices for quality pieces. I love that black coating on the Centric rotors. That alone would probably sell me.

The rotors on my wife's '02 Camry look almost new yet at 53k mi. and even the pads are only half worn. From what I've seen, Toyota/ Lexus uses one of the best rotors I've I've ever seen. I think one of the reasons so many rotors (aftermarket and even some OEM), don't last well is because a great deal of them are made in China. How well do you think the scrap metal we send over there will last if simply melted and cast into rotors. I doubt that much of anything else is done to it. I'm certain some of the more competitive American car brands have a lot more than just the rotors made in China.

I have read the very helpful DIY thread about replacing the rotors, but there were differing opinions on the size of the bolts to use to help dislodge the rotors. I believe the size is 8mm, but I read 1.0 pitch and 1.25 pitch. Does anyone know which is correct?

Our 1st gen car including camry, all have rotors premature failure. There is no need to turn them. Throw them away and buy a new set of USA made rotors, and you will be happy again. The cost of turning the old rotors and having the same problem again in lesss then 10k miles is very much close to the new set of rotors cost; they last longer and brake better then the oem rotors.
