I plan to buy a Certified Pre-Owned RX300 for my wife. I will consider all years (1999-2001). It boils down to potential car payment affordability. Any buying tips or things to look out for? Is a certain year better than another?
Also, what are the disadvantages of leasing a Certified
Pre-Owned Lexus?
Thanks!

2001 and on have certain enhancements to the braking system in addition to certain cosmetic modifications. The 2002 is virtually identical to the 2001. (I have 1 of each year) Bear in mind also that if you pick a black one, that is their only non-metallic finish and excludes clear coat finish. Hope this was helpful ans your decision is accurate since the BMW version is up to it's 11th recall!

As you may have seen in other posts - the gas tank was increased in the 2001 model. I have a 2000 and I only get about 250 miles per tank...so I am filling up almost every day. A major bummer for me.

Get a high mileage 2001 (45-55K), Certified Pre-Owned. 2001 has a lot more "tweaks" than previous years (ie., VSC, traction control, emergency braking, bigger fuel tank, etc). You'll also get two extra years of "gelling" protection from the factory than if you were to get a 1999 model. The high mileage will also reduce the likelihood of gelling since this was most likely highway driven. And, future proof your RX by buying one equipped with the Navigation and HID.
