new amp in 99 rx300
I would like to install new speakers and amp in my '99 rx300. The inputs/output plugs are so complicated, I wonder if I could keep the old amp and hook only the speaker wires to the new powered amp, thereby keeping all the other connections intact ???

I would suggest searching on pre-amp level.
IN summary, the pre-amp levels are non-standard [differential l+,l-; r+,r- ] and voltage levels are again non-standard.
Easiest is to take the speaker levels and go through a level adjuster and then go through amp and add new speakers.
You can improve the sound by just changing speakers.
Due to the acoustics of the RX cabin, expecting superb sound is a lofty goal.

Sorry, I dont have the specs handy but here is a tidbit ..
In '00 or 01 the amp output was bumped slightly higher.
