Sound System Help!!!
Hey everyone, i have a 2000 Lexus RX300 SUV and im using the stock deck.
I have a high/low converter that is wired like so
The black and red lines that run off are positive and negative that are spliced into one of my rear speakers, and G is the optional ground (The positive and negative of the left side is looped into the right side, this was done by an audio installation professional).
I have 2 12" subs in this exact box:
The 2 subs are Alpine 12" SWE-1243
250 rms
700 peak
and the amp is Alpine MRP-M500
Per channel into 2 ohms: 500W x 1 RMS
The 2 subs are connected in parallel to make them output at 2 ohms (if thats what connecting them in parallel does when they are 4 ohms)
with this whole setup, my system barely bumps, like nothing rattles, its just soft bass and its not too loud at all. My friend has a VW jetta with the stock deck and the same high/low converter and my amp and subs are both twice as powerful and his system pounds compared to mine.
I am very dissappointed with the output, any suggestions to make this system rlly pound?

yes I have some advice
I have possibly the loudest and best quality sound system found in a car thats from 2000...
what I did
was splice into the subwoofer Output found under the back seat
and run that into a line level converter
and use that pre to a Powered JBL Venue 15 Sub..700 watts 15 inch sub
Not only is my front seat sub still active
but My sub I strapped down in the back is a front firing and ported design and the system blurs my vision when I want it to
though mostly its cranked wayyyy down just to compliment the music
A funny fact was when I did this
I had to reverse the Phase on my Powered Sub or the sound was very weak.
Im not sure if the rear door speaker is a full range 20hz-20Khz signal I think its cut toff at 80 or so for the front sub to carry over the rest
that would explain allot
I would trust the Pioneer system lexus put in and Use the sub out from the Power amp under the back rear seats.
Made a world of difference, and Im into classical and rock music
I keep my front EQ settings like this
+3 bass +3 Mid +5 Treble
that while using the Aux in for my Ipod and the JBL subwoofer in the back
is a magical experience.
Bose cant touch it.
Good luck!

wow thanks a lot, i hope this works.
So just to recap, you spliced the subwoofer output wires from the factory amp and sent it to your aftermarket sub?
this raises 3 questions
1) did you splice into any of the speakers?
2) did you use a high/low converter?
3) did you use an aftermarket deck as well or just the one that came with the car?
i appreciate your help a lot, i paid good money for subs and an amp and everything and im not satisfied at all!

Yea I couldnt get those back ones off...i finally gave in and paid my local shop 60 bucks to do the install for me. I actually installed a Kenwood powered sub...its small enough to fit under the seats but i put it in the truck against the side so it takes up like no room but produces the best sound vs under a seat. For what it is the sound is not bad especially if you listen to rock. It does not do well on low bass but if your trying to save space its awesome. Ill post up some pics. One thing I did do was have them run thick wires (vs the wires that came with that unit) so I can upgrade to a better powered sub or an amp and sub later on once im bored. That will be easy to do since all ill have to do is swap it out.
