Removing Parking Brake Cable
Hi there,
Hoping someone can give me some advice on removing the parking brake cable from the backing plate on my RX300.
The cable has seized down where it connects to the backing plate and goes in to the rear drum. I'm hoping that if I can disconnect the cable from the plate I can lube it enough to free it from sticking.
In reading the online manual, it indicates that there are two bolts that secure the parking brake cable to the backing plate. I've taken a good look but can't find them.
Would anyone be able to shed some light on how I can remove this?
Thanks

Found them - they were on the inside of the backing plate - way too obvious!
Incidently, if anyone experiences a seized brake - it's likely to occur where the cable enters the rear brake backing plate. You can confirm this before you take anything apart by pushing the parking brake and seeing if there's any movement in the cable section that's closest to the rear brakes. If there is, it's seized at the backing plate. By removing the cable at the backing plate and lubing with penetrating oil, it can be freed-up without much effort.

I'm currently having the same issue. My right hand cable has seized badly. I was 95% sure that the corrosion has taken place where it connects through the drum, and after reading your post I'm even more convinced. I'll get out trying to remove it now. What mm size on the wrench to unscrew it from the backing plate? Is it a 19 mm?
