Default gear stays in low gear. HELP

Hello,

I was changing the spark plugs for 99 RX300, I got platinum spark plugs for the rx300.

I was able to change all the spark plugs for the car.

However I am facing a problem with the gear. It does not change from the third. The car runs a lot better after changing the spark plugs but the only for the first two gears.

While I drive on a highway, first third gears up normally, but the gear does not change to the fourth, so I am driving on highway 60 around 4,5 thousand rpm.

Im a newbie in everything so it will be great if anyone could help me in this.

Thank you

yes, I was thinking about going autozone tomorrow mourning to scan with the OBDII, but I always had the engine light on, previous problem was the "faulty H02S" and I have got the new parts for this. Right after that the engine light turned off but its now on again.

do you know what maybe causing this?

thanks

forgot to say that I have changed the parts few weeks ago and probably the engine light has been on for two weeks and the sunoco mechanic has no idea about it...

I had code p1155, A/F sensor. Replaced it and a week later I had p0330, knock sensor. The knock sensor code disabled O/D. Took it to Toyota dealership and for 1000 bucks they replaced both sensors and wires. This is on a 2000 AWD RX300 with 52,000 miles on it.

ok, lets do this first. lets reset your CEL codes to get a good baseline to annalyze what the actual problem is. You can do this one of two ways: 1. unplug your battery for 5 minutes or 2. pull out the fuse located in the picture by a blue box in the picture below (put it back in after like 15 seconds of course )

once you do that, then go run it both city and highway and see if it comes back and also see if you can get into 4th gear, if the CEL comes back go get your codes read at autozone or something and then post up here what the codes were and then lets go from there

K.Capone>

I went to autozone first thing in the mourning, and got it OBD checked and it said that there were lean system engine, sparklugs 1,3,and 5 missfire................ and I have checked the sparkplugs nothing wrong to it.....or it might be the coil. But still have the problem.

1, 3, 5 all are one bank [near firewall]. I had a bad plug [way past its life], followed by coil going bad ... and with a single cylinder not working [consistently] , the idle was bad.

I'm sure you've checked, but the O/D Off button isn't pushed in on the shift ****, is it? I would only hope it's something that easy....
