Does anybody have any ideas why our RX300 has recently been showing the temp in celsius and not fahrenheit? it's the wierdest thing. upon start up, it'll show C. the first time i noticed, i turned off the engine and restarted and then it changed back to F. does anybody have a ideas what's causing this?

Weird electrical things sometimes happen when an RX's car battery is on it's last legs. If you car battery is over maybe 4 or 5 years of age (4 in a hot climate, 5 in a cooler climate), that's the first thing I'd suspect.

Funny you suggest this because I also thought that this might be the culprit but we just changed our battery maybe 2 years ago or so. My wife does drive a lot. Her car is a 2002 with about 160k miles and going strong. If it's a simple battery fix, I will ask my SA about this and if he's encountered this problem before or knows about it. I was worried that it might have been the start of a bigger problem.

I will say that on the two occassions that I've noticed it, it's been after parking the car in the garage for a couple of days without driving it and the garage has been extremely hot with the heatwave that we've been having.

Does anybody have a definitely reason for this hiccup or is it really as simple as replacing the battery?

Maybe I should just call my SA. Thanks.

There is a similar issue where with the battery going bad often when starting up the clock will reset to 1 a.m. Another issue is sometimes the blue screen will not light up except for the clock. I've had my Optima Red Top for almost 5 years and I get occasional quirks when I leave the vehicle sit.

Greetings,

I had the same problem. My experience is that changing the battery will correct the problem. I couldn't straighten it out until I changed the battery, then poof, workd good lasts long time! Wish that I had better justification, but the battery swap stopped the temperature mode change.

Drive safe!
