New guy question about door lock . .
Hello, new guy here, my daughter has a RX 300, 1999. When the power door lock switch or remote is engaged, all doors lock other than the passengers door. You can physically lock the door either with the key or moving the lock mechanism switch on the passenger door. I also noticed, the interior light does not come on when the passenger door is opened nor does the door ajar sensor light on the instrument cluster (does with the drivers door, and rear doors). I have not removed the door panel to see if something is either broken or a wire is off of a contact, on the checklist and saw a great set of instructions here on how to remove the doorpanel without destroying it (thanks). Was wondering if there is a relay that would be suspect or are there wiring contacts that I need to look for other than what is found behind the door panel? Or, would the first look be behind the passenger side kick panel?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Thanks for the replies, in addition to the electronic lock, since neither the door ajar sensor light on the instrument console nor the interior lights are activitated by that specific door being opened, do you think those are different issues? I don't see how that could be related to the actuator. Or, is there some common electronic module that may be a culprit?
Thanks

the actuator (door lock) has the sensor attached to it. So if it doesnot actuate, the sensor will not actuate. Cost of the actuator is around $266 plus labor. I replaced mine the first time, but when it failed again, I elected the cheap fix, which is working great.

Well then, that makes sense! Thanks.

Cruiserun- If money is not a problem, I suggest you do as Thomas suggested (meaning replace the actuator). If money IS tight, I would suggest that you CAN cut the actuator case apart (I cut either 3 or 4 of them apart on my DIL's RX). I used a razor knife and split it as much on the fused line as I could and then super-glued them back together, which worked fine. When you open it up that way, you will see the strip contacts that they use to do all this interacting with all the other systems it interacts with. I doubt that the contacts are worn out, probably just dried up grease. If you did choose to open it up, you could actually replace the small motor inside. From what I understand, someone is selling them again either online or on e-bay for about $5. Good Luck!
