Changing rear brake rotors
I just finished doing the rear brakes on my daughter's 99 RX, a week after doing the fronts. Interestingly, the left rear rotor didn't have the threaded holes to screw bolts into to loosen the rotor, but I was able to tap the thing loose. After I had the right wheel back on, I realized I forgot the little rubber plug on the rotor face which I believe allows access to adjust the parking brake shoes. I took the wheel back off, had to remove the caliper again, reposition the hole in the rotor correctly over the hole in the axle hub, then reassemble. Whew! Hopefully, all of you can remember to watch for this when you do it.
Also, the parking brake shoe lining looks to be about 1/16" thick. Is that adequate? Obviously, these aren't subjected to moving/braking wear, but I couldn't find the recommended lining thickness, and I don't know how thick new shoe linings are.

1999 RX300............................................In. (mm)
Brake Shoe Thickness
Standard ............................................ .079 (2.0)
Minimum ............................................. .039 (1.0)
Brake Drum Inside Diameter
Standard ............................................ 6.69 (170)
Maximum ............................................. 6.73 (171)
As long as it's not metal on metal I would reuse them.

I just changed 2 of the 4 brake shoes that are used for the parking brake. I looked all over for aftermarket shoes but could only get them from lexus - $50/shoe...$200 for all 4.
Reuse them if you can!

Carson & Park Place have them on-line for less than $100 for all 4. Still a rip off but 1/2 the price of retail.
