-Because I purchaced a Lexus (Toyota) timing belt, it had excellent reference lines on the backside of it.
Having the engine at TDC, the belt lines make everything go where it supposed to. I believed those lines aided in my success.

Dont forget to consider the size of hands and reach of the individual doing the job. Know how and tools are important but if you cant reach or have large hands which can not get in there, there is no way you can do it.

Example: To me replacing the rear spark plugs of RX is same level of work as replacing oil filter on RX.


For those who intend to replace the belt on their own, keep in mind you are working on a 4 stroke engine and the visual markings can match at 2 positions and only one is correct [compound the fact that it is a v6, your wrong combination are twice as many]. Once the belt is off, do not spin any gear, if you must then remember to turn it back the same turn(s). The next rotation will most probably be wrong.
