Drivers Door Lock/Window

Drivers Door Lock/Window
2000 RX300 with 98,000 miles
I just started having intermittent problems with the drivers door lock. When you use the remote half the time it works fine, the other half it does not unlock the driver’s door. It seems to lock the door every time. On the times that it does not work, pushing the button once does not cause a chirp on the car, but the two push chirps and the other doors unlock The door locks/unlocks every time using the buttons on the drivers/passenger doors.
Now, I just noticed last night that the auto up/down on the driver’s door does not function. If you hold the button you can get the window up/down - just no auto function. All other windows work auto from the driver’s door control as well as from their own controls.
Where do I start looking?

Battery/electrical issues. I have not had the door lock issue as much, in fact, rarely, but the window issue I had the previous Sunday and I plan to rework on it Saturday if I have enough strength and perhaps will show photos. Sometimes at least with the window, one can disconnect and reconnect the cable from the window regulator/motor to the electrical supply and that can make it work again. Again, I may not, if at all, get to this until Saturday afternoon with regard to my driver's side door.

Lexmex,
Thanks for your reply and all of your great tips/DIY threads!!!
You pointed me in the right direction (I hope) with your suggestion "one can disconnect and reconnect the cable from the window regulator/motor to the electrical supply and that can make it work again".
Between that and another similar suggestion I took the easy way - I disconnected the battery for a few minutes. While disconneced I took the time to clean the terminals and make sure the cells were filled with water.
Once the battery was re-connected everything is working again
I will report back if symptoms return.
Thanks again!!
