70,000 Mile Service Cost $790.00?!?!?!

What the hell is this, the dealer is charging me 790.00 for the 70,000 mile service. Is this right? Help me out since I do not have the same amount of cash as I did when I bought my car (tech slow down).

In the owners manual.
Don't let the dealer do any mainatinance that isn't explicitly required, and don't let him talk you into the rough service schedule unless you use it as a taxi.

Isn't it true that in boston when you buy a car, you need to have purchased insurance and registration beforehand?
But I know this guy at work who baught a brand new car with an international drivers license and didnt have any insurance for 2 months! Then one day I saw him leaving early and he said he was going to get insurance and a MA license! Very circular logic going on here in MA. I dont understand it. So, Im not sure anymore.

sounds kind of high but VW svs is pretty steep as well.
proof that most $ made in dealerships is off of
the (repeat) service not the sale.
it seems to me that as a japanese car
we should have more qualified service options than they do for german cars (which i would not trust to anyone but a bosh certified mechanic).
you figure competition would help keep the service prices in check... somewhat..?
