Default Trading RX for sedan

My needs have changed and after a lot of thought I have decided to sell my RX and buy a new Lexus sedan. Still haven't decided on the exact model. Anyone recently sell or buy a RX that can give me any advice? I have a 2001 RX AWD SilverSport with 157K. I am the original owner and have all maintenance receipts from day 1. Oil has been changed every 5k with Quaker semi-synthetic. Car is in excellent condition and has been kept in a heated garage its whole life. I got a new trans about 2 years ago. Engine is still covered by the Lexus sludge warranty. Anybody have any sugestions on what I should ask and where is a good place to list it?

If I had a buyer for mine I'd buy yours. I'm guessing yours is worth $8-9K, maybe $10K on a good day.

Your'e going to take a bath on the car in the current auto climate. I'd be inclined to keep it a couple more years.

You'll miss the AWD traction, so think about an ES or AWD GS or IS. Yours is probably worth more to you than what you can get out of it, so unless your needs involve racing, I'd be tempted to keep it!!

The AWD won't be an issue. I am looking at IS AWD. However, the hybrid also looks tempting. I still need to do some more research and looking.
The RX is gone. Got 8K on a trade in on a new Nissan Rogue for my son. I decided it was time to change out all the family vehicles. So once we decide on a vehicle, we negotiate the best price, and then see which one of our trades will bring the most at that dealer.
We ordered an Outback for my wife. We were going to get an RX350 but the Outback won out. The best Subaru would do for the RX on a trade was 4K. In other words, they didn't want to be bothered with it unless it was a steal. 160K on the odometer also made it a little tough. Nissan came up to 5K for the RX on a trade for the Rogue. But I told them I was going to ask $8999. for it and should easily get 8K for it. I told them once I sold it privately I would come back to purchase the Rogue. They called later that day to say the found a wholesaler that would pay 8k. I really hated to let it go to a wholesaler being that I owned it since new, had all the maintenance records, it was a SilverSport model, it had a new trans, had no minor blemishes, and was kept in a heated garage. Of course the wholesaler didn't know about any of this, other than the fact that it had a clean carfax and he looked at a pic emailed to him by the dealer and decided he could make money on it.
Other than the trans the RX has served us well over the years. Now I just have to pick which Lexus for myself and we start the cycle all over again.

I am on the same thought process as you. I love my RX. I am the third owner of it. The original owner had it San Diego for the first 6 years. Then my brother drove it back from San Diego and had it in NJ for 3 years. I know have it in Saratoga. It is the best car I have ever had in the snow.I am so tempted to upgrade, but two things get me...which car to get next and why should I? The car runs great. I LOVE having no car payment too. Let me know what you get. I am eyeing a used ES as we speak, but the RX350 is so tempting.

Well I just bought a 02 for 13k from Lexus of Tampa Bay. One owner, all service done at Lexus, and it had 60k. I also bought the maint. package and the warranty for an additional 2k so thats 15k for a flawless rx with warranty and maint. Now on the other hand I went with a friend who wanted to buy an Infinit FX35 and he got 8k for his beat up Audi TT which electrical issues and over 100k. They basically gave him more for his trade to get the price down to what he wanted the car for...he was looking for a specific payment. So try trading it in for more then what you would get private party right now. Get a number in mind and just push for it- it helps if you dont tell them you have a trade in and negotiate the car first, then once thats done throw them the "I want to trade in my RX" curve ball.
