Talking Soundproofing Job on Harrier (check out the pics)

Thought it may be of interest to you guys. Paid a shop to do it; it took 2 of their guys four days to complete the job. Had to strip out the entire floor board, the dashboard, the wheel well and the firewall ...

Now the road and engine noises are reduced and the car feels more solid. The doors close with a "thud" like the conti cars. better sound from the sound system. Worth every penny and more.

cheers.

WoW! That looks like a lot of work....

I wouldn't want my car to be stripped like that... but I guess that's what you have get done for the sound-deadening...

have fun!

That looks like some intensive work, I wonder how much weight that added. I like the way the wood on the steering wheel goes across the bottom.

Zeta, I noticed the same about the sound leaking when you are outside the vehicle. It's completely different on the LS, the stereo can be real loud, but if you are outside the vehicle it is as if it isn't even on.

Wheels are 18/235/55/8. Took me a while to find them here in sunny Singapore. It helps to put in some spacers so that the wheels are flushed against the body panel. I have a pair of 35mm spacers for the rear wheels and a pair of 15mm for the front wheels. Really made a difference to the look of the SUV, gives it a more aggressive stance -- from a soccer mom-to grocery shopping to a hey-he-looks-like-he-goes-hiking-during-the-weekend type of ride.

Attached is a better pic of the wheels.

Put in about 50kg (what's that in pound?) worth of the bitumen sound deadening stuff. That's about 2 layers for the entire floor board and wheel well and hatch door; not counting the foam stuff they put in as noise barrier. I am not done yet, seriously thinking of spraying some more rubber coating and expanding foam in the under carriage and trunk/dash board areas to seal out the engine noise. Will post pics if I do. Labor is cheap here in Singapore. The shop charged me less than USD300 for the job. The material came up to around one grand.

I Like the fact that there are no bumper sidemarkers, makes it look a whole lot cleaner.

That 18" wheels u got is also avaliable in Taiwan, i think im gonna get that if i cant find any 19s or 20s thats reasonable. The ones u got seem popular in asian countries. except japan.
