Default TRAC dash light always ON

Hi all,

Sorry for a silly question but, I don't have a owners manual yet. I have a 99 rx300 AWD and the TRAC light is always illuminated on the dash. What does this mean?

Its AWD all the time so I don't know why the light is on telling me the back wheels are engaged.

Have a great day!

TIA

If you have a 'TRAC' button it means that your RX is now AWD, but FWD. The light can be on because the button is pushed to disable it, the button for the traction control is right above the gear lever.

I don't have a trac button. SO I'm assuming I have AWD all the time. I do have the ECT button for SNOW or POWER. Pushing that button illuminates a different indicator on the dash panel. So i'm confident I have AWD.

I'm refering to the yellow car located under the RPM gauge. The car has 3 little dash lines coming off the back left and right sides of the car. When I switch into gear F or R the light comes on. IS this normal?

The light you are getting normally means that the traction control system is detecting slippage, but in your case it might be on due to a problem in the system. The best way to find out what's wrong would be to go to Autozone or buy a OBD scanner and see what code (s) you get...

Default Zero codes

Hmmm,

Seems strange... My OBD II says the car is clear of codes.

Anybody else know why the TRAC light is ON and what it means?

TIA

If your scanner isn't picking up any codes, the only other thing that I can think of is disconnecting the negative (-) on your battery for 15 mins. or so.. maybe that will reset the computer.

Did you recently change your brake's or hit a large pot-hole/curb, maybe a ABS sensor is loose which is causing the light to go off.
