Default Advice on Current extended warranties?

Hi; I got an estimate for a 5yr 100k mile warranty from an after market warranty provider. I think buying one is a good idea (my 2000 rx300 has 103k miles). Does anyone have advice on current warranty providers that have given them good service and pricing? OR, does anyone have advice on current providers that have given BAD service and pricing?

thx!

The question is, are there any aftermarket warranty companies that are solvent to pay claims?

And the warranty they offer is for an additional 5yr/100,000 mile? That's pretty unusual!

I bought a "bumper-to-bumper" warranty about 8 years ago (1Source auto warranty) - they went belly-up after 2 years and didn't pay for the only thing that went wrong before that (broken door handle). My opinion is that the only extended warranties worth getting are those offered by the manufacturers.

If you are already at 103K, the 100k warranty would not apply. I have heard of warranties upto 150k but not for 203K miles.

I was sent one of these in the mail, after reading the fine print, these warranties don't cover anything. It states "any repairs caused by "normal" wear and tear on your vehicle is not covered", I was surprised to actual see this....but if your don't read it like many won't this will slip right past you. I agree with sktn77a, only the warranty through the manufacturer would have you covered.

^ Normal wear and tear are also not covered under Lexus extended warranty [there is a fine print in there too, even in base warranty]. From what I hear, BMW is the only Lux vehicle with the least cost for repair/maint in warranty. Benz and Lexus have more exclusions.
