Victory baby!!!! Just another life lesson. Engine sludge.
As some of you may remember in
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...ving-help.html
my rx300 engine had sludge and the claim was denied by lexus. Even though everyone I spoke with was skeptical I worked extensively on preparing my case to submit to the third party evaluator provided under the terms of the "gelling"/sludge agreement (beside the extensive work to complete an engine removal, overhaul, and replacement). Well it finally payed off as the third party evaluator saw things my way and granted me a refund on the money I spent to do this!!! I only owned this car one month, the service records were somewhat limited, but lexus denied the claim in writing based on lack of sludge present however I was able to get the local toyota dealer to document in writing (with a little creative story) that there was sludge present in the engine. Satisfying end to a long, drawn out, time consuming, inconvient ordeal. So if you have a sludge related problem don't give up you can win, even though the cost to me (being a cheapskate) was $3000 parts only(rebuilt engine, new knock sensors & harness, water hose, filters, gaskets, and fluids) and did the labor myself. Much cheaper than most can get by on a job this extensive. I am very happy to have that money back in my pocket and to take on the coorporate ****** and win. Just the fact that I was able to accomplish all of that by myself is almost more satisfying than the refunded money. 4000 miles on rebuilt engine, running great
Since I spent a lot of time and effort learning the in's and out's of the class action settlement I will help anyone I can with any questions. Hope this doesn't happen to you but if it does, don't fold, you can win!!!!!!!
Also thanks to everyone that helped me with the questions I had and all the info eveyone provided..........I'm one happy mother f'er(we have a 5mo son so it's true LOL)

Definately full synthetic. I ran the first oil change only 500 miles, 2nd one 2500 (used about 1/1.5qts) and running one last dino oil for 3000 then synthetic. Unless I still see a fair amount of oil used may run another dino oil. I think 6k should be sufficient break in.....?
