Hi, I have a 99 RX 300. Today I changed the oil, and decided to also change the pcv valve, because the car has 180,000 miles on it and it is leaking some oil. The problem is, the pcv valve broke, and now part of it is lodged in the valve cover gromet. I am afraid that it might fall down onto the valves, then I am really screwed. I am going to try one more time with a pick to pull it out, but if that doesnt work, the rear valve cover is going to have to be removed. My question is, does anyone have any tips on the removal of the air intake plenum, as well as rear valve cover. Any tips on removing the broken pcv valve are welcomed as well.

Have you tried alligator pliers? The PCV is wedged that tight?
I'm what I'm envisioning is what happened, the PCV broke not at the bend, but right at the cylinder where it inserts into the valve cover? If so, the PCV has an opening in the middle, so try to get some "hook" of sorts down the middle hole, then pull back up hard. This might dislodge it.
Good luck, I have not idea about teh valve removal question as I've never done it.

yes, thats exactly what happened. I got so frusterated today, that I just left it to sit for a while, and then I thought about the hook or pick method. Im really hoping it will help. Im going to spray some lube down in the gromet to help maybe slide it out. I really hope I can get it out and it does not break and fall down into the valves, that will blow. thanks for you help.
