Excessive Oil Under Engine

Nad, that does look like the rear cover doesn't it? I can't imagine the oil being that clean, leaking from the cover even when you've just changed it. The design of the valve cover gaskets is good and NORMALLY shouldn't leak any for a long long time. I always understood that if detergent oil was doing it's job, It wouldn't stay clean. (coal black isn't good obviously) Except in my brothers '07 Dodge with the Cummins. He can change it and once around the block it's like lamp black. What type and brand of oil do you use? My wife's Camry ('02 4cyl) does stay clean for quite a long time but then her '95 Taurus w/3.0 did too.
P.S. The oil filter isn't in the best place but what I do on my truck is break it loose, then slip a 1 qt. zip-lock bad over it before I begin to unscrew. It catches the oil that leaks out of the full filter and you can even get it zipped before you pull it out to contain the oil with filter.

I usually change oil between 4-5k with any synthetic that's on sale. lol
Yeah, my oil stays light colored around the 2k mark.
Well...the OP hasn't responded yet so I can assume that he just recently changed his oil ( 1k<)
About the leak...I have 158k on mine and has no leak back there.
Father in law has 163k on his 2001 Sienna (same motor) and it's gushing oil. Go figure ??

This is all good info, but this is oil on the rear of the motor. there is no oil by the filter. they do a good clean up job there. Its on the rear of the motor and there is no oil missing so i'm guessing they just spilt it back there and didn't realize. And they use 5w-30 oil when they change it.

I really doubt they spilled back there.
If they clean the filter area well, they should have cleaned back there if they spilled.
The spill looks like about 2-3 oz. which will not make a significant reading on the dipstick.
How many miles you put in after the last oil change?
My suggestion is clean off that back side area (brake cleaner works well) and re-check it after a couple hundred miles.

Yea, I know Roger, just to lazy to replace that foam when it happens...Yes I have one of those funnels for the oil...Its oK, but I am crazy about it...Havent used it in a long time....I will put a new gasket on the engine cover....next time...promise.
