Unhappy 2000 RX300 Multiple Electrical faults

2 weeks ago my car opened all the windows and sunroof by itself. I removed the drivers switch and found one relay was buggered. I ordered a new switch from Japan (RX300's were never imported into Australia - I brought it in myself from Singapore), and while waiting to receive it I tried to manipulate all manner of things to close the windows. I managed to close them all but now I seem to have caused lots of other problems.
1. When I put it into reverse the fan shuts off and indicators stop
2. the indicators do work they operate like hazard lights (both flash) and mostly at double the normal speed.
3. The rear demist switch rapidly activates the relay on/off/on/off/on/off and also shuts off the fan.
4. The VSC light comes on a few seconds/minutes after starting the engine.
5. All other electrical things work fine.

I have unplugged and re-plugged every connector, checked all the earth points, check the battery and alternator, all is fine.

I have replaced the window switch so now all the windows work fine, but the other problems remain. (Actually the drivers window closes and then opens half way again if I click it all the way to auto, but that is a minor problem).

I took the car to Lexus and they retrieved Codes C025, C1207, C1223 but none of these could be cleared and they are unsure what they mean because apparently they should be P codes not C codes. I paid them $96 and have all they same problem when i took it in. They do not what to do any more work because it is personally imported.

I think I have blown up the computer while trying to close all the windows myself. Do you all agree? if so how much is a new computer shipped to Australia likely to cost me?

Try disconnecting the battery for 20minutes or so. This resets the on-board controller. You will loose all your presets.

I am not familiar with c-codes. The P codes are typically associated with emission/engine-control.

I agree with Salim's suggestion to hopefully get it to reset the computer to defaults. As for the window switch re: the Drivers window operation. Run the window up all the way and HOLD the switch when it gets to the top for about 4 seconds. That should reset the operation of that window. Good Luck!

The "C" codes are chassis codes and I don't find those codes on the list of generic codes, so that means one of two things likely, they are Lexus specific codes or they are codes use in Japan, Singapore or some country other than the U.S., as OBDII codes are not necessarily "world wide" codes. There are different codes used sometimes in other countries, though the major bulk of OBDII codes would be universal worldwide for a particular brand of car. Toyota/Lexus also uses a second port that is round and that is a dedicated T/L port and would require their dedicated reader to read anything that port produced in the way of information. I wonder if the C codes were simply produced because of whatever you did (since you didn't tell us what it was) to get the windows all to go up. From your comment it sounds like it might violate the integrity of the computer. (it may have gotten "ticked" at you for whatever you did and is getting back at you in the only way it is able to!) (Smiles)

All windows + sunroof opening happens when you hold down the unlock button on the key remote. Could this have been a problem with the remote or the receiver?

Default I tried the suggestions

Thanks for the ideas. I was excited to run and try with great hope. Unfortunately no joy! Everything is the same. I need a RX300 Specialist in Australia!!!

Regarding the Drivers Window
I think the Jam Protection Function may be operating out of sync. I tried holding it in the up position for 4 seconds but no difference. I held it up for 10 seconds and then it stayed up, but on further operation it is the same as before.

I then hit the brake pedal while I was holding it for 10 seconds and then the window did all sorts of weird things, including not operating at all! I managed to get it back to operating again but it still opens half way if I use Auto. (Note: the new switch I bought from Japan is only Auto on the drivers window, but the original was auto on all windows).

I really appreciated your suggestions and if there are any more please keep them coming.

I'm not sure if you mistyped the C025 but I took a look at my service manual with regard to the other two codes you mentioned:

C1207:
Malfunction in Neutral Start Switch
Trouble Area: Neutral Start Switch, Neutral Start Switch (Park/Reverse Range Circuit)

C1223
Malfunction in ABS System
Trouble Area: ABS Control System

The neutral start switch is on the front side of your transmission. The transmission is located on the driver's side of the engine bay.

This is a picture with the transmission out of the vehicle. Where the white square is attaches an accordion-like cord. When this part properly functions, you can only start the vehicle in Park or Neutral and no other gear.

With regard to the ABS, there is 'fix' so to speak, but that involves disconnecting the ABS. The alternative is shelling out big $$$.

Shown below on the passenger side of the engine bay, you'll find an electrical connection here. You need to disconnect the black cable that hooks into this socket. The ABS light will come on, but I've had my ABS disconnected for several years now and no issue.

In regards to your window problem.
I think you have to take the window motor out of the regulator and spin it 6-10 turns in 5sec in the UP position.
Means you need to take the door panel out.
Do this in the "manual" up not the auto up.
Then hook everything back up and it should reset the limit switch.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong here.
Although I did this method on my buddys Highlander and it worked.

Default One fix to RX300, front passenger window not working

RX300, 2000 Front passenger [F ps]. window failing to lift or lower with both Master and F ps, switches activated.

Two problems were solved as follows:

1. No power detected at the F.ps switch: green and red wires supplying power to switch. When separate 12 v. power is supplied to the F. ps window harness [green and red wire terminals]. the window moves up and down depending on polarity. Fault: blown 20 amp fuse. After replacing fuse, the F ps window operated flawlessly with the driver's side master switch but not with the F ps window switch.

2. F. ps switch would not operate raising and lowering of F ps window.
Solution: faulty F ps switch; corrected with replacement: $39 plus ship., Ebay.

Note: these two problems do not require removal of door panel, door window motor or door window regulator

I give credit to Mark's All Data posted comment regarding the nature of how these door window switches operate by communicating to a central computer. They also talk to the door each is assigned to itself.

I hope this may be helpful to someone.
