Default recommendation for D2R bulb?

my 2001 rx300 is running 35w D2R bulbs and was looking to change them soon. I found philips crystal vision 5000k and they look pretty nice, but I don't know if it is actually bright in real life. What bulbs do you guys use or know a really bright one?

p.s. how much would it cost to upgrade to a good 55w hid kit?

PIAA low beams are bright and white in 4300K for $53 on Amazon. But, the 55watt HID from DDM Tuning is only $35 (+ shipping) and they are twice+ as bright as the PIAA's! Just watch your color (K) selection. 4000k is White, I have 6000k in the fogs and its too blue. I will be changing to 4000k bulbs.

The cops can stop you if you have blue tinted head/fog lights in a older car. I read some where that its a Fed law that you can not retro fit HID to a older car. I hid my ballasts under the fender shields for the fogs. I have 35 watt PIAA now in the low beams, and they are brighter than stock. The White lights (4000k) will not direct attention to you as the blue will. The HID lights are at least two times as bright as stock.

If you change your low beams to PIAA or HID, both will show how Yellow your remaining high, fog and/or day time running lights look in comparison. It the end you will change all the lights to the more pleasing White (or blue tint) lights, Your choice.

DDM has the best prices that I could find on line, But there delivery time sucks. It took then a week before they even shipped mine and another week for snail mail and I paid extra for two day delivery.

i have 55w kit on my car. unlike jerry i received mine in about 3 days. the kit i have is 8000k because the 55w kits burns brighter thus 8000k looks like 6000k.
