100%. Plus it's very hard if not impossible to duplicate the precision of a factory engine. I'm sure there are some shops that can do it but will charge top dollar for the privilege.

Thanks for the advice. I was really just wondering if the car would run reasonably well by replacing the rod bearings. I’ll add that I live on a 12x3 mile island without access to a replacement engine (at least for several months) and nobody on island does this kind of work. So, it sounds like it’s getting chopped up for parts unless I attempt my first rebuild in years. There is a machine shop capable of turning cam shafts but they usually only work on yachts. I’ll have to bump heads with the guys at the machine shop. Who knows, maybe somebody has a wrecked vehicle with a 3.0 hidden somewhere. Thanks again.

Could buy a new crankshaft

Are you sure the rod bearings are bad? The 1MZ-FE is a hard engine to damage let alone kill.

Not sure if anything yet. Just suspect a rod bearing at this point. Haven’t pulled the bottom out yet. That’s on my agenda. Here’s a short clip for sound. Feel free to make suggestions. LOL!

Not funny I know but we have many knock, knock jokes here in the US.

I realize you don't have many options for repair living on a small island.
When you get in there and see what's going on post up some pics if ya want and share the journey with us if you feel like it.
Wishing you success.

Ooooooooh Yeah.
Can hear it plain as day.
Ears can be playing tricks on me but sounds like just one bad bearing/rod.
Possible starved oil flow from gunking at that cylinder?
What you think?

That was my original thought as well which is why I started thinking about a island special repair. Who knows… I’ll take pics when I pull the pans.
