p1fcl01, check out this URL. It's a K&N post by Obidon concerning the K&N model numbers... apparently O'Reilly recommends the 33-2052 over the 33-2145 because it fits better. Mine dropped right in.

Best Price and NO Shipping Charges
Best Price I've found in anywhere. Just purchase the K&N filter for my 1999 RX300 for $37.83 and no shipping charge. I know about the model 33-2145-1 might not fit but I'm going to try anyway. If it doesn't I put it in my Sienna which use the same model filter. The site is www.ajusa.com. Oh, check out their used car department, some real nice Porches and Bimmers.....
Hope this helps.....

Confused?? Two part numbers
When I go to various auto parts sites, some of them are coming up with two different part numbers for the K&N Air Filter.
33-2145-1 and 33-2052 ($10 higher). Dimensions are close but not exact.
What is the difference between these two filters? I have a 2001 RX300 2WD.

Different part numbers??
Never mind. After reading other posts, it appears that 33-2052 is what I should order.
However, when you call K&N, they recommend 33-2145-1 (go figure??).
I believe I will take the advice of those who have ordered/installed over the K&N tech support reps.

I know this is an old thread, but I was researching before buying.
I just bought the 3145-1 from Performance International after having spoken with both K&N technical support and Performance.
They both had the same response about the 2052:
Although it may fit tighter in the box, that is of no benefit. Rather, it is the seal of the filter to the air intake hole (or whatever it is called) that matters.
Also, neither K&N nor Lexus will be liable if something goes wrong because of the use of the 2052. (not that it would, but...)
Anyhow, thanks to this forum and these threads -- I'm looking forward to the improved gas mileage!
