I've never heard of "sticking" in a CV axle. Just play, and that is usually obvious, either through the clunking sound when you put it in gear, or from inspection.

Have you jacked up the car and looked for play?

Based on the age of the model and expected life after the repair I would highly suggest to just purchase aftermarket shafts. If you insists on building/repairing piece by piece, visit your local parts store or check out the online Lexus retailers [such as Lexus of South Atalanta etc].
