Greetings folks. First of all, great site. I am a new RX300 (2002) owner (got mine about 4 weeks ago - Sacramento CA) and found this site when researching about my new car.
I have read some very good articles and response regarding Rx300 here. Its nice to know what are some of the issues regarding common problems so I can be on the lookout. I make my first service visit tomorrow. Actually looking forward to my first "lexus customer service" experience.
Will post back tomorrow and report how things go..

ok. So hear we are in Sac, CA pulling up to the service driveway. I lexus rep is waiting for us, opening doors and welcoming us. A couple of seconds later, the service manager walks out and takes us in his office. So far so good. We explain why we were here (out 4 week checkup and getting permer plate on the vehicle). He said no problem, takes our keys and hands us to another service technician.
He is arranging a loaner for us, since the process will take couple of hours. We wait anxiously, for our loaner vehicle and to our dismay pulls up in another Rx300. Anyway, he hands us the keys and we are off. My only problem with the loaner was it was dirty inside. I mean it reeked of second hand smoke and the cupholders, trays were all dirty.
After about 5 hrs, I get a call on my cell that my RX was ready and we could pick our vehicle. We head back, and here is our new lexus, all cleaned and shining. Man, we were really glad to get of the dirty one. Overall, good experince (except for the loaner car).

They only permerplated my vehicle. This was part of the deal and I was not charged anything. We only have 650 miles on the vehicle right now. I remember the sales guy mentioning that the 1st 5K service will be free.
Hope this helps. Also has anybody had the dealership permerplate paintguard your vehicle. Mine looks very shiny and cool right now. Any thoughts on maintenance and stuff like that I should be aware of.
