Default What would happen with E85?

Hi,

So, I went to a gas station I normally don't go to... I don't know if I can say the name, but it's a "really great" "USA".

There were three choices of gasoline--
PREMIUM on the LEFT. E85 in the MIDDLE and REG. UNLEADED on the RIGHT

I am POSITIVE I chose the Premium, since I was being extra careful because I was at a different station.

I drove about 20 miles home. Today, it was hot, so I started it up before I was to leave. It started normally, didn't do anything abnormal. Started driving about 15 minutes later, and the RX started shaking a bit. Not a quarter mile down the road the check engine light came on. I decided to turn around, engine light went off. Turn back around, it comes on, and by this time I realize something isn't right. There is also a slight burning smell- almost the smell of a belt or something.

LONG story kinda short- ended up emptying out the tank- put in gasoline from my normal station, and was hoping things were fine. Well, it's still acting funny, engine light is still on, and it's not wanting to shift when I get up to 50mph--- so the RPMs are higher than normal.

I also had an oil change Friday... I put on 240 miles since then. Would a problem with their oil show up right away?

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. At this point, I assume the gas might have been switched- the stuff emptied out of my tank didn't smell like normal gasoline, and had a slightly watery appearance.

Thank you for your time.

Have the code read by obdI reader. Stores like Autozone do it for free.

From what I have read here on the forum, the lack of overdrive is a normal byproduct of having the Check-Engine-Light (CEL) light on. Also, you need to reset the CEL, it will not reset itself. The CEL code-reader will have a reset button, and there are several other methods.

It could just be bad premium gas, and not E85. Or, it could be something unrelated.
