About to purchase our first Lexus. We have it narrowed down to these two years but not sure about AWD VS. 4WD. My wife will be the primary driver and she averages 10k per year, easy driving no off road. I vote 4WD because it sounds like less of a chance of a tranny issue. I am also leaning towards 02' as it also has less chance of tranny issues based on what I have read through various forums. Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

The other way around. 2wd should be more reliable and cheaper to fix if you ever do have a problem. I would say the newer the better if you are comparing model years.

I would suggest a 2003 or newer. And yes the 2wd has been more reliable.

I believe the choices are 'Front Wheel Drive' (FWD) and 'All Wheel Drive' (AWD).

My take is it's vehicles that are 9 to 10 years old.
I would choose the best overall condition when comparing and the drivetrain would be considered secondary, if it came into play at all.

All things being equal, the age of the vehicles and the easy driving you mentioned would lead me to the (FWD).
