Default Mobil 1 ATF OK in '01 rx300 AWD?

I want to drain the ATF in my '01 rx300 awd, and was wondering if Mobil 1 ATF was OK. It says on the bottle good for Toyota Type IV. Should I go for it, or go to Toyota and get their type IV? Or is something else better? I want to use good stuff that won't hurt my tranny. It's got 75K on engine and transmission.

Yes, it's perfectly fine. There are fluids like Redline and Amsoil that I like better, but Mobil 1 ATF is going to be a better step up than the Toyota Type IV. We have had several people use the Mobil 1 ATF with no issues.

I've been using Mobil 1 ATF for about 15k miles now and haven't had any problems yet. Trasmisison feels much smoother than the old Type IV I drained out.

Thanks, gentlemen. I was pretty sure it would be OK, but it's nice to have confirmation. Lexmex, your write-ups and pics really helped me and gave me the confidence to try the tranny change. It was really easy. Muchas gracias, amigo!

Oh, and BTW, it really seemed to run smoother after the change.

You have to thank TunedRX300 for that one, he's the one who did the tranny DIY.

Obviously it is ok to mix the Toyota and Mobil 1....It is impossible to get all the old fluid drained out....I am also thinking about a synthetic for my next drain and fill....

I was using it until California banned Mobil 1 tranny fluid...Environmental wackos at work.
