Default Newer RX300 stereo into 2001 RX300

I just purchased a 2001 RX300. The stereo does not appear to be "satellite ready," but I have a Pioneer SIR-PNR1 from my previous car. I'd like to purchase a satellite ready RX300 stereo for my 2001. Is this even possible? Will a 2005 stereo fit in a 2001? Is there another solution (aftermarket)?

Thanks!

I dont think it will fit, go to an audio store they sell adapters that integrate into the stock system to allow you inputs such as XM radio and DVD.

Is yours NAV?

No, it's not the GPS system, so there is no Satellite button. So my problem is that even if I can hook up a satellite receiver, then I have no way to select it from the head unit.

unless you do a completely custom install where they can add an aftermarket deck which is really expenisve...your best bet is to get one of those retrofit kits that send the signal to your radio and power from the cig lighter.

Has anyone tried the aftermarket Single Din adapter? I'm thinking about installing a single din aftermarket GPS/sat head unit using the adapter seen here: http://beatsonicusa.com/stereo/stere...00/aok-01.html. However, I'm concerned that the screen from a single din stereo would not be able to eject as the gear shift stick is in the way.

you would have to move the shifter down before it pops up so you would have to buy one with the auto flip out disabling feature.

Ive seen 330s with double din adapters that should be online, not sure if they ever made one for the 300.

I remember seeing another thread with an aftermarket head unit installation with this kit. I don't recall him mentioning about any problems in that area.

I bought a0k1 adapter from beatsonic usa. This is just radio faceplate adapter. You must also purchase a0k1 wire harness adapter that is sold by beatsonic but from Japan. If you call beatsonic here in the USA ask to speak with Eric. He's manager. Here is where things get a little confusing, after you buy this harness from them you must change the pin configuration in the actual harness itself. I just started tonight to try and figure out all wires. I got wiring from Toyota Technical Information System https://techinfo.toyota.com/techInfoPortal/ . Here you must pay for access for 2 days minimum for $15.00. Its actually really cool because you can print and download different pages of service manuals. This whole project has become a small nightmare. I am trying to be positive. Ill keep you posted. As far as radios go I am thinking about a clarion nz500. http://www.amazon.com/Clarion-NZ500-.../dp/B0032FOJD4 It has bluetooth /gps / and is sirius ready. By the way , the way this adapter works is that if you turn on new radio while old one is on it will automatically bypass and shut off old radio.

There is somebody on this forum who took the time and effort to figure out how to upgrade a non-NAV RX300 to NAV. He then sold wiring harness kits with detailed instructions, and did some installations. Perhaps you will consider such a business model if things go well.
