the 234-4215 is the one I need for bank 1 sensor 2.
"Reverse the part #'s",yes, thankyou for confirming my confusion reading the reply...but I do appreciate all the help.
it is a cummunication error (hence the c) usually means something isn’t “talking” to the computer. Apparently the fix here is a new air fuel ratio sensor. Not sure if that is given me the p0420 or the c1201 is giving me the p0420.
Yes, reverse the part numbers in my post #164. Thanks, Carguy. I tried to help but ended up making for more confusion. If deleting that post makes more sense than leaving it - feel free.
I just replaced bank 2, sensor 1 and bank 1, sensor 2. Thank you, Lexmex, Salim, and all of you.
I was lucky, there was no rusty nuts or threads on my 20 year old RX300. I applied PB Blaster on the night before the replacement.
Bank 2, Sensor 1
I got a hard time disconnecting the sensor electronic connector even after removing the battery and the air box. It was not because of not enough room but because of my weak thumb. I had to use a slip-joint pliers in my right hand to hold and depress the tab, so my left hand could pull the sensor out.
There was no way I can attach a 18" breaker bar to a oxygen sensor socket to remove the sensor from the exhaust manifold. Then I attached a 8" long ratchet to the socket and tried to take the sensor out but couldn't do it.
In panic, I connected another socket to the breaker bar and put them over the ratchet and tried again. Success at last. So make sure you have a long ratchet before doing the job.
Bank 1, Sensor 2
As Lexmex suggested, I didn't remove the driver chair. It was convenient, but I had to cut more on the carpet. I didn't mind because I am the owner. Now I understand why the repair manual mentioned to remove the driver chair and the carpet first. Imagine if I were a mechanic fixing a customer 's RX300 and then later he/she find out what I did to the carpet, I would be in big trouble.
I got a oxygen sensor thread chaser, Lisle part number 12230 ready for the job but since the sensors went out easily, the chaser was not needed.
Can the o2 sensor cause a parasitic drain in the battery? And my daughter's Rx300 won't shift.
I suppose the heaters could get stuck on the air fuel sensors (would probably be a relay problem and not the sensors). I would think they would burn up after a while. This thread is about the O2 sensor which i think is not heated. Won't shift into overdrive or out of 1st gear? Is the check engine light on?
It won't shift out of park . I've had the battery replaced and it's completely dead already. Ive had the alternator checked twice. It's supposedly working. I know the o2 sensor needs replacing because the person I bought it from said it did.
There is a safety interlock with requires 12v from battery + applying brakes (which activates a switch ~ you should see the brake lights light up in the rear) -- which releases the shifter interlock. Owners manual has the procedure listed to bypass the interlock.
