Default is this related to the rear diff?

I have the 99 rx300, I took over from my friend with 120k miles. MY friend did the rebuild on the tranny around 110k outside of toyota. it wasn't shift that great while I took it over, but, after i flushed the tranny fluid with the OEM fluid, it runs great now..

I have a question, when I shift from R to D very fast, there is strange noise come from the rear bottom. if I shift from R to N, stop for a second, the from N to D. then no noise will come up..

is this noise related to the rear diff? if I change the rear diff fluid, can that help?
or it's just normal issue on the RX with that kind mileage..

please give me some ideas

You don't really ever want to shift from R to D very fast. Probably hearing some drive-line lash or even worn trans mount. Changing the diff fluid will not help this at all.

The RX is really nice car, want to keep it for while..
so, if the tranny mount is the case, how to work on it? is it a big amount for parts and labor?

Actually, now that I think about it, I don't think there is a separate tranny mount, just the motor mounts. But, seriously how fast are you moving the shifter when this happens? The solution might just be to not do that in the first place.

You should make a full stop before shifting from P-D or D-R or P-R. If your not stopped completely when changing those gears, your asking for the Transmission to fall apart.
