Car has been running great (except for a bad lock actuator).

I recently went away and parked the car at the airport for 10 days. When I got back, the check engine light along with VSC and TRAC OFF immediatley went on.

Any ideas? I haven't changed the air filter in apprx a year, but regular maintenance including the 60K service was done about 18 months ago.

Perhaps this is a clue- there were very heavy rains in the DFW area while the car was parked outside.

Just reset it and see if it comes back. If it comes back go to autozone and get have them tell you what it is and post the code on here.

Mine came on after the rains as well! Ended up costing me 350 for a new sensor.

UPDATE:
I just came back from AutoZeone and they read code

P0442- EVAP

The manager suggested it is either a bad gas cap, or leakage onto the charcoal from overflowing the tank. My gas cap looks just fine.

The only change from before and after the code is that I left the car parked for 10 days , which included a heavy rain storm.

I just removed the EFI fuse, and will see if that resets it.


Anyone have specific experience with P0442?

Strange, the same thing just happened to my ls430. I had it parked on a hill in front of my house fro 2 weeks while I was away on a trip, get back and start it up and immediately get these error codes.

I was going to try and do a reset using a paper clip and the obdii connector I saw and see if this helps.

Any luck?

yeah, so it happened to both of us: The TRAC OFF and VSC lights appeared after the car was parked idle for > 1 week.

I'm wondering if the heavy rians may have dampened the charcoal cannister. That can cause P0442.
