Default Transmission

Does anyone know where I can get a rebuilt transmission for my 99 rx300 at an affordable price? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've always wondered if a rebuilt transmission is the best way to go, or if it's more economical and more reliable to have your existing one rebuilt....

Rebuilding in house is cheaper from what I've seen (about $1000) but you risk surprises (additional costs to replace hard parts) if everything is not kosher inside.

Why do you need to rebuild your tranny? What's wrong with the tranny? How many miles on the tranny?

I also wonder if a Toyota dealer could do a good job -- isnt' the transmission the same as the Highlander's? Or is that a risky thing to do?
