My 1999 RX 300 - Suspension problems and more
Greeting everyone. I am the proud owner of a 1999 Lexus RX300 in the dominican republic., home to some of the worst roads in the world. She has 80K miles, is black and looks great on the outside but has alot of problems. Over the past 3 years the air conditioner had to replaced, and a huge oil sludge problem resulting in a new crankshaft. So this is a money pit but I still love her enought to keep her.
Currently I need to repair the front suspension. The car is wobbling seriously at all speeds, after jacking it up we noticed the bushing on the lower control arms were loose as a goose. So I think i am going to need to replace both lower control arms. I read in another thread that the toyota camry 92-98 control arm is the same. Can anyone verify this. What other areas on the front suspension could be loose besides the control arm bushings?
Also,
The radio just stopped outputting sound recently. It powers up and the radio and the CD seem to be working but no sound, thats either a speaker wiring issue or the radio output is fried eh?

I can't remember on the Toyota Camry arms, but somebody else (I think from Puerto Rico) mentioned they worked, but those bushings definitely will throw things a lot if you are on the a flat highway and you will noticed the wobble on the steering. A busted shock will also throw things off, but not as much as a busted bushing (based on experienced) if you are just driving down a normal flat highway.

Thanks everyone, Going to try and find the camry arms tommorrow. Are there any other parts needed to purchcase to change out the lower control arms? What is the degree of difficulty of the labor to change them out?
Anyone know the spanish translation for passenger and drivers lower control arms. hehe

Thanks everyone, I was able to find the arms locally, incredible. They were $48. The labor here is very affordable, only $30 to replace the arm. Having the work done tommorrow. also need a new rack end for the driver side, it was only $30.
After inspecting both arms the passenger side control arm is solid so I am going to try and see if I can get away with replacing only the driver side arm bably not a great idea but its a cash flow problem. Is this stupid? I figure I could try driver side only and see how it works.
Had I fixed this problem a few months ago when i noticed it I wouldnt have improper wear on my tires. I fried two front end tires by not having the suspension tuned properly, rookie mistake. Cheers Everyone, and thanks to all. You to PESCAO you are the man!
FYI, in spanish they call the control arm a "calrede"
