I've only had mine a month and I'd sell it for less than what I paid just to be done with it. I'm getting sick of taking the bus.

I will give mine to a family member when I'm done with it.

SOL,

Sounds like you just got a car that someone got rid of because they knew of the problems.

Do you have any kind of Lemon Law or used car warranty where you live? This basically protects you against the stuff that you've been going through.

Isn't the P0770 code just for the solenoids? Can't you have those replaced without replacing the entire tranny?

I had 2 sets of solenoids go in my '96 Taurus... got several more years out of that until the tranny finally blew...

You are correct. I did some search on this site and there are 5 solenoids in RX300. These are :
Line Pressure Control,
Clutch Control, No.1,
Automatic Transmission 3Way,
Clutch Control, No.2,
Transmission 3Way, No.2 .

I was talking to my mechanic and his question was do we replace all or one/two ? Still asking around.

I don't think that I'm alone in stating that if Lexus was to reintroduce the RX300 as it was when it was discontinued (with a few "minor" upgrades, such as steering wheel audio controls & illumination upgrades) that it would outsell the current 350 / 450h.
Hi. I'm gonna try something CRAZY. I too love the RX300 (mine is a '99). Love everything about her, interior & exterior. The CRAZY thing is dat I'm gonna buy scrap yard audio controls for the steering & connect it to my car. I'll need to do some construction works to make it fit nicely on the steering wheel. I'm stoked up. Itching to know if it will be fine. As a concept, it should work, don't you think???
