Default How a "tired" Air/Fuel Sensor looks

In a few weeks I'll be taking another one of my road trips to Michigan (for those that don't know, i go to Michigan every 1-2 months) but this time I will be visiting Chicago too. And so I wanted to get the sensor fixed before i headed out there to avoid being stranded and/or to avoid getting 9mpg...lol
Okay, let's just get to the point of this thread. So a month or two back I got the P1150 Code for the Front Air/Fuel Sensor (Denso 234-9009). And I ordered the part for $106 (total including tax). I kept putting off the install.
Well today I installed it, and it was extremely easy. I thought it was going to be siezed on but it wasn't bad at all, I took an oxygen sensor tool to it and a 1ft breaker bar and pulled on that ***** and it came off; I almost fell to the ground I didn't expect it to be that easy...lol
I wanted to make this thread to show what a bad Air/Fuel Sensor looks like because mine is pretty much dead, it is 10 years old and has 150,000 miles on it.

Thanks for posting the photo. I think I'll be facing that one of these days. I've heard of oxygen sensor tools -- is it like a spark plug socket, or is it more specialized?

It is specialized. if You have a Harbor Freight near you, you can get a nice one for about $5. If you aren't going to reuse the old sensors you can just use a regular box end wrench. If the box won't go over the plug, cut it off, then you can use the box. They don't have to be tightened like a gorilla installed 'em, you can just be careful and use an open end wrench to install if the box won't go over the plug. The special sensor socket has a slot in the side so that the wire can slip in there.

I understood. Just saying that you've got your money's worth. When you think the temps the A/F sensors run and the cycles they had to go through in that # of miles, they are pretty amazing aren't they?

That IS what you call getting your money's worth Thomas, now you understand why I don't like to buy anything but OEM parts for Toyota or Lexus.

C'mon now Thomas, no guts? It may not be quite as easy as the You Tube of the change, but having been into my DIL's 3 times for reasons previously stated, I can say it's not near as bad as the 1st time. I wouldn't really dread it at all. I'll come give you a hand with it.... Oh, wait a minute, my arms aren't that long and the drive is a little more than just around the corner so maybe I'll have to think about that. With all the help you gave your neighbor on his Highlander ???, isn't it payback time? Let me know what the old belt looks like.
