Speakers
I know i think i have posted this before... others have... and so on and so on...
but i need to know the sizes of the rear door speakers. I know the front speakers are 6 1/2 while the rear doors i think are 4's...
i think goodguys says its 6 1/2 on front n back.. but i dont belive them...
crutchfeld dont have anything on the lexus... i called them also and they dont have no info...
i called 3 lexus dealers, they have no idea what the sizes are... nor do they know the specific difference between the silversport and the normal rx3's...
then i called 800 25 lexus and they TOO dont know silversport suspension difference except that its stiffer and dont know the speaker sizes...
anyone can help???

6.5 front rear 5 1/4 but you can fit 6.5's back there. you have to make adapters for them to mount to. look at the blue mounting bracket lexus uses............we cut new ones out of mdf for replacement speakers in my rx.

Shonuff,
Dude you are no joke! I don't think there is a compartment or crevice left in your RX that you haven't explored.
It's all good though, as we all benefit from your wealth of knowledge on these vehicles.
Now back to the speakers, I was thinking about going with the Infinity Kappas - some say good - other say their okay - comments? I think I need coaxials because the staging of the stock tweeterss and front doors speakers falls short. Plus a coaxial with a good mid-range driver should dramatically (hopefully) change the sound.
Although I'm wondering if the head unit is up to snuff. A lot a times just swapping the HU makes a world of difference. But I don't think I'm ready to commit to that level of modifications just yet

white01: thanks......glad to help. and yeah i have had almost every panel off of the interior. check this picture out.........this is from when we installed the remote starter, paging, lcd alarm. Aladdin A200 model
as far as speakers go...infinity kappas are great......i have infinity reference 605cs components. unless you are into competion you probably won't notice too much difference in the higher end speakers. i got a good clean sound out of my setup.

spin: you're gonna need to know where the stock amp is if you're gonna keep the factory head unit. this is from a rx i swapped out a regular system with a nakamichi system. this guys rx didn't come with a cd changer.....
so i sold him my nak changer, but the nake unit won't work unless it has the nak amp......it has an extra wire that the premium sys doesn't have......so i had to install the nak amp and splice the wire in.
so here it is.......look at his nasty spare tire lol

pic of the connectors. it is a pain in the a$$ to get to the amp. there is a metal cover that bolts down over it. there are 3 or 4 i thin 10 or 12 mm nuts holding it down.
