Default 2001 PCV size

Car is at 120k or 75k miles and want to replace the metal PCV valve.

I see it as a straight piece with the rubber tube connected on the top. I hope that's the right one.

What is the size of the nut thread? It's quite cramped there and I may have to buy a extra long wrench to reach there just to try and take it off.

Will WD40 help with making it loose?

Part # 12204-20040 Toyota dealers have them too.

The spring clamp is very easy to release by hand and slides up the hose easily. A 19mm or 3/4" open end wrench is the best tool for the job. Takes 10 minutes or so. The old one was not that tight, but use a little caution when you break it loose so that you do not snap off the nipple for the vacuum hose that is adjacent to the wrench. Other than that it's a piece of cake.

Thanks.

I don't have a wrench that large handy...will look to borrow one from a friend.

I guess there is no way of checking the condition of the original PCV until I take it off...

No easy way to check it. You can try squeezing the vacuum line to see if you can hear it rattle. But even then I would still replace it. They get enough junk in them that they can intermittently stick. With all the sludge problems these cars have it's cheap insurance. A crescent wrench might work, but there is not a lot of space in there.
