Default Check Engine Code Help....

Ok guys...so long story short... i bought the lexus off a guy... engine light was on... he cleared it off.. told me if it comes back its the rear sensor and he will fix it... of course the light comes back on the next day.... so now he sends me $100 for the sensor.... go to partsource... get the codes checked..

5 codes.. .two repeat..

P0120, P0441,P0446,P0441,P0446....

Throttle Postion sensor,
And VSV....

Please help me try to fix this.... Ive been told these arent large problems.. but id like to address them as soon as possible..

Cheers

Part source quoted 82.28 for the Throttle Postion sensor... but they didnt have a part stocked for the VSV issue.... said it could just be a vacuum line...

Any help greatly appreciated...

Cheers

Fix the TPS sensor first, because the other codes with P04XX open a bigger can of worms (can range from a gas cap too the charcoal canister (big black box underneath rear of vehicle to a a VSV line on the top of the engine). However, the P0120 is a rare code on these vehicles, so I'd take care of that first.

Some things you can user aftermarket parts for, but I've found when I'm playing around with the engine and something like the part in question, I stick to the Denso. It's not something that fails often enough for me to even remotely consider a cheaper part. Just my two cents. We've had issues with people putting non-Denso parts in engine components and winding up with issues.

I have no idea on this one. I have yet to fix my rear view mirror on the door after many years.

There IS a possibility that Denso isn't the original manufacturer of that part. If you go to a parts site like www.partsgeek.com and look up the part, it will tell you in the listing if it is OEM. They sell a lot of OEM parts but they won't be in TOYOTA boxes, they will be in the box of the OEM manufacturer.

I just checked the site and they show Aisan (that IS the spelling) as the OEM manufacturer and the price is $48.94. I would always try and stick with OEM parts and many of them can be bought outside of the dealership channel. I have dealt with this co. and they were good to deal with. Quick service and cheap shipping.

The rear view mirrior assembly can be tricky!

I have had 3 windshields replaced, and on one replacement, the tech had to come back the following day to complete the mirrior assembly. I tried to do it but before loosing the little *****, I figured I would let him finish it the next day. I was not happy driving around with the mirrior hanging!

-Do you have anyone that does windshield replacement in your area? They could assemble it for you.
It would probably be cheaper than the dealership.

Its stayed up so far.. my problem was the part marked "spring" had little to no spring in it..and needed force to even fit into the bracket..

If it falls off.. ill use the second set of parts and get a pro to install it..

Cheers
