Just a bit of onfo for you guys.
My friend always was telling me my exhaust had a leak. I could never hear it very loud inside the car. If you were along side a building it was noticeable.
Anyways, I put the car up on the ramps, and discovered the leak was comming from under the heat shield that covers the rear precat and "Y" section of exhaust pipe. Removed the Y pipe and took off heat shield. ( be aware there's some insulation between heat shield and piping.) I was thinking the leak was somewhere around the rear precat, but discovered it was where the 2 pipes come together! they look like they were welded from the inside to join them. Anyway, there was a split on the outside, so I just sanded pipe with some sanding discs on my drill, and braised the crack shut. So far its been very quiet! The hardest place to thake apart, was the upper joint! What a pain! I was afraid to use heat up there, so I was using my big breaker bar reduced down th 3/8 - 14 mm deep 6 point socket wit a 3/8 wobble 2" extension and all 1/2 down after that. Tough getting that top bolt. The nut ended up snapping off the Torx end of the stud off,
but leaving enough of the stud. The other side, the stud and nut came off together. I'm glad its done before winter.
(Its usually when I'm under cars most of the time!)
