Talking Purchased a car .....

So i was hoping to buy a another lexus but instead after getting a awsome deal with certified preowned i purchased a 2006 Volvo S80 with 70,000 miles and has little but over one year of warranty left. Got it for like 13,500 from a Volvo dealership too. .please do not get mad Club Lexus fans... haha. It was just a good deal. Its def a good car soo far. Does any one had or has own a Volvo car before?

Even the Volvo shops called them a "tractor". They were strong, stronger than the 7 series. I worked on a lot of them doing body work. The 7's were strong in some areas and weak in others. They're a good car, but don't believe all the hype that Volvo puts out. The Japanese still build the most dependable cars ever built over all. Unfortunately, the Germans build some of the less dependable. How did that happen???

From what I remember that is a nice looking car, right? Volvo did finally get to designing some nice looking cars (or maybe it was Ford that designed them) Why is it that a car company finally designs some of the best looking cars when they're going under. It's happened quite a few times. The last Saturns were the nicest they ever built. Sad. (I realize Volvo didn't go under, but didn't China buy 'em?)

This is the perceived public view but real issue is that prestige car owners in general do not maintain their vehicles either due to lifestyle interference a day without car, afraid of the cost or simply never service it. Japanese owners are just more cautious and aren't expecting a massive service bill even though they still get them but because they were the cautious buyer to begin with they service their cars. I have worked for Toyota and can honestly say that a Toyota 3 years old is likely to be serviced where a trade in Mercedes of same age only ever had it's initial 1000km service and other than a few pings because of timing is out. Two cars same age Japanese will be serviced but not in as good condition same mileage but more car park marks. The Euro car with few broken cosmetics and in dire need of a service will be all round better but eventually would actually break down due to never being serviced.
If both cars were always serviced maintained they will both do million miles.

I love the s80, only problem was when i was looking for one was i could only afford 99-01's and those were problem plagued to say the least, i also wanted a t6, which i hope you didn't get. The newer ones were more reliable and they are still great cars either way, congrats

Makes sense. I have wonder why BMW is really pushing the no cost maintenance for life in commercials. I was puzzled by this because if you can afford a BMW you should be able to pay for an oil change. Also a maybe a reason why German cars ranked low in the consumer reports. Fault of the car owner or car manufacture?

I should start a mobile maintenance service that is tied into the cars ecm and gps. The car needs service, it would email me diagnostics, the gps would tell me where it is.

I do like Volvos. I used to have a 740 Turbo, later an 850 for my daughter. I drove the new Naughty S60 and loved it. I'm not ready to trade my Cadillac CTS-V in on it yet, though!

Shouldn't this be moved to a different forum?

I grew up in Rosharon, about 30 miles south of Houston. Not much for employment there so I'm living in La Port now.

Congrats on the '06 S80 purchase. That definitely sounds like a good deal. We bought a '97 850 years ago with 80k miles and have already put 100k more miles on it. The mechanic I use is great... and recently I asked him if we were to replace it, what years S80 to get. He said anything basically 2002 and beyond is much more reliable than the earlier year S80/S60s.

They are comfortable, quiet, safe vehicles. Do all your routine maintenance and it'll last. Enjoy!
