i had an 01 RX300 and the cupholders were lousy - we never used them. my RX330 has much improved cup holders. they are deeper, in the front of the console so they are easily accessible, have rubber sides for grip and noise reduction, can be hidden with a nice wooden and dampened door cover, and have neat blue leds at night that light up your entire bottle of water. left of the steering wheel is a nice single cupholder that slides out. in the summer the airconditioning vent will keep the drink cool.
the rear finally has two cupholders within easy reach for children and aren't in the way like the single one in the RX300. they aren't as deep as the front ones though.

The fold up cupholder in the RX300 was horrible, it broke a few times and I just gave up on fixing it or having the dealer fix it

The ones on the RX330 are much better, but still not the best. (Lexus: look at the cupholders on the BMW 330i, those are great)

Speaking of BMW's, has anyone ever seen the many add on armrest console cupholders for the older Beemers and Benz's ?

I think an add on could be made for the RX300. If you take the flip up cupholder apart you could easily attach a rectangular box to the console. The box could have deep cupholders and/or a storage bin. The materials need to match the interior color and have some real walnut trim. Maybe a pull-out for the rear passengers.

Anyone know somebody who could build something like this?

Default RX300 Cup holders are terrible!

Hi all,

I share the same sentiments as other RX 300 owners and i've come to the conclusion, i'm selling my RX as a result!

I have to use my cup holders daily and it's an aggrevating issue with me. I can't keep my hot coffee from spilling and my cold water as well.

It's a shame though, I have my pampared RX with remote start and nice aftermarket alarm professionally installed. The leather seats are perfectly conditioned, the vehicle is very clean and thoroughly detailed pretty often....

I'm thinking about the RX300 or the RX400h. Not sure.

But I must agree, the cup holders were an afterthought in the RX300.

Cheers,

Sheldon.

Fatenator,
