speakers. see how the blue adapter is molded to the factory speaker?? you gotta make an adaptere like that out of mdf so your aftermarket speakers will fit.

Default Question regarding replacement tweeters

For the folks that have replaced the front component speakers with aftermarket (like Infinitys):

Do you just plug in the the aftermarkets and use as is, or do you splice in the crossover that comes with the new speakers? If so, where do you mount it and how?

Thanks.

tc: we ran new wires to all of my speakers (replaced front/rear/tweeters) ran wires from the new amp and used the new crossovers that came with the infinitys. we mounted them in the kick panel area on the driver and passenger sides. also my aftermarket head unit (replaced that as well) has a hi pass filter on it.

Ahhh.... my mistake shonuff (but thanks for the clear repsonse), what I'm interested in specifically is folks who just replaced the speakers and not the head unit (I have Nav so replacing the OEM head is not really desirable to me)

I'm leaning towards Infinitis or even Dynaudios if budget permits.

So anyone else just replace the speakers?

just replacing the factory speakers should be feasible.......i do not think you would have a problem just switching out the speakers and using the stock wiring.

the factory speakers should have a crossover on them already but i imagine you could just run them in line. i believe the line splits in the door to run to the tweets.........but i have to check on that again
