Default Where did you have your transmission rebuilt?

As I have stated in my previous posts, I love my 2001 RX300. It has 137K and the shifts are a bit quirky. I have done the filter/fluid changes and will continue to pay significant attention to the transmission, but it seems prudent to start laying the groundwork for the inevitable rebuild. Does this forum have a list of the good shops in each region? Those shops which understand our particular transmission and do quality work for a good price. For example, dindih posted on the "Can I save my transmission" thread that he had his rebuilt for $2300 including service for a year. And twa2k in his thread '02 145K Transmission Fried" that he had his rebuilt at Texas Transmissions for $800. Why don't we start a sticky with shops in the various regions of the country who are capable of servicing our transmissions at a reasonable rate. From a business perspective we may be able to negotiate a fleet rate if we agree to post their info on this site. Sure seems to make sense given the # of transmissions at risk and the huge variations in cost. What do you guys think?

BTW, a reputable shop in my area (Lancaster, PA) quoted me the standard $3500. When I asked them why it was so much they said it is an expensive car. 'nuff said.

Yes, I don't know there is any difference between replacing a Lexus and a highlander. The later would only cost $600 for the labor. I would recommend to replace a remanufactured one if possible, which comes with 3 Year warranty .

You know that is a great idea, and it would help others when that time comes...also I would suggest rating their work with stars (five best, 1 poor)
