Pass window erratic

Pass window erratic
I have read the stories and advise of many of the other users here with the same issue regarding the passenger window. Mine does the same, goes down when its suppose to go up, gets stuck on the way up, non responsive to the master switch and pass switch at time etc.
What i have not seen was any real diagnosis of the problem.....
I have taken by pass switch cover off and was playing with the switch while the window was stuck down. I can hear a relay of some type clicking in the door, and when that happens, the door light (on the bottom of the panel) goes slightly dim until the relay releases. With the visible drain based on the light dimming, im assumng the switch is working - telling the relay to do somethings and the window refuses to move (or in other words, the motor will not turn). After several attempts with the switch, turn the key off and on, trying the pass window switch again....i hit the driver switch and the window went up :-). This does not always happen this way......
So.....what might be the issue here?? Before i take the door panel off and begin a round of diagnostics - i can sure use some advise and education on this system.
Thanks alot for your help...........anxiously waiting

I have done the reboot several times - it appears to not help - being intermittent its hard to tell.
I dont recall if i triggered the switch with a flick or a hold.
Is there any electrical diagnosis using a multi-meter that can be done with the window stuck in whatever position?
My window is not dirty, window tracks on the outside edges are very clean, does not seem to have any residue.
Any thoughts on the the relay sound coming from inside the door panel? Is that relay part of the window motor?
